“GRACE” 1958 Matthews

Summer 2022 – Grace, a classic Matthews mahogany yacht is in for an extensive restoration. Our main focus areas include her plywood bulkheads, topside framing and planking; her transom, her keel and bottom frames.

This vessel is a true classic, one we are proud to have in our shop.

We are at the stage where more pieces are going together than are coming apart…..always a significant milestone!

This boat is a mystery boat. We are not 100% sure this is an authentic Arena Craft……we are researching that now. It is in for a complete restoration. And, yes, it is a wooden boat! Some speculate this boat may have been a plug for a fiberglass version.

This boat has come in for a 5200 bottom, and complete topsides and deck restoration. Her owner is considering repower options, including the possibility of converting her to an inboard outboard to improve maneuverability while docking.

“Stone Crusher”

“Stone Crusher”

Stone Crusher is a 19’ Gravette and is owned by a grandson of the founder of Gravette Boats in Muskoka Ontario. This boat was a prototype, and is one of only two made. The production boat was shortened to 17’ and marketed as Gravette’s ‘Sunflash’ model. The boat is in for a varnish freshen up and mechanical upgrades. Stone Crusher is named after the hill behind the Gravette plant in Muskoka.

23′ Shepherd – Touch Wood

1958

Touch Wood is one of the boats we’ve completely rebuilt and regularly maintain. A couple of years after the restoration, the owner asked us to upgrade the original straight 6 engine to a more powerful V8. We rebuilt and installed a Chrysler 318. The owner is thrilled with the new performance levels!
